DVM, MSc. Juan Isaac Chávez Corona

I am a veterinarian and researcher with a background in Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). My research focuses on the development of advanced biomaterials and nanotechnology-based drug delivery systems for biomedical and veterinary applications.

During my academic training, I gained extensive experience in laboratory animal science and preclinical research, contributing to the design and evaluation of innovative therapeutic strategies aimed at improving drug efficacy and patient outcomes. My work has particularly focused on controlled-release systems for protein therapeutics and the translational potential of nanomedicine.

As part of my MSc in Animal Production and Health Sciences at UNAM, I participated in a research project investigating insulin-loaded liposomal formulations for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus. Using experimental Wistar rat models, this work explored novel approaches for the controlled delivery of insulin with potential applications in clinical veterinary medicine.

My current research interests lie at the intersection of biomaterials, nanomedicine, drug delivery, and regenerative technologies, with a particular emphasis on the development of innovative therapeutic platforms for endocrine and chronic diseases.

Currently, I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Biomaterials at the University of Groningen and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG), enrolled in a dual-degree doctoral program leading to a PhD from the University of Groningen and a Doctor en Ciencias degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

Through my research, I aim to contribute to the development of next-generation therapeutic technologies that advance both human and veterinary medicine while promoting health, welfare, and translational innovation.
