My dissertation falls under the Anchoring Innovation research agenda (https://anchoringinnovation.nl/). My project concerns nine orations delivered in praise of the Roman emperors in the late third and early fourt century, the Panegyrici Latini. I am investigating how rhetorical texts like the Panegyrici helped anchor (or firmly establish) the political culture of the late imperial elite.
