PhD candidate in International Relations under a cotutelle agreement between the Federal University of Bahia (Brazil) and the University of Groningen. My research bridges Brazilian international thought and environmental history, examining the socio-environmental history of ideas and political practices during Brazil's great land rush (c. 1850–1920). I argue how land grabbing and exploitation entangle forced dependency, debt and colonialism and resistance too, while turning Brazil into a facet of the modern international and global capitalism.
