Dr. E Falade is an Assistant Professor of Popular Music, Sound and Media Cultures. Dr Falade is a Black queer, feminist DJ and ethnomusicologist whose research sits at the nexus between race, gender, sexuality and popular music studies. Dr Falade’s research has focused on disrupting the erasure of the experiences of marginalized communities, particularly Black Queer women artists, within the realm of popular music studies.In their current research Dr. Falade is focused on exploring how alternative R&B has emerged and evolved as a genre that challenges and redefines traditional conceptions of Black musical aesthetics, identity, and cultural consciousness across the Black Atlantic.
