Daniele is assistant professor in economic geography at the Faculty of Spatial Sciences (University of Groningen).
Daniele received his PhD in Economics from l'Università della Svizzera italiana in Lugano (Switzerland) in 2018 with a thesis on the importance of geographical proximity in regional economic contexts.
His research interests include topics in the area of regional economics, economic and political geography, as well as formal and informal institutions, with a particular interest on spatial spillovers.
In 2018 he was awarded the Epainos Award at the European Regional Science Association congress, a prestigious European prize for young scientists for the best paper in regional science. In January 2015 he successfully concluded the Swiss Program for Beginning Doctoral Students in Economics offered by the Study Center Gerzensee. In July 2014 Daniele won the Swiss National Science Foundation grant Doc.CH, allowing him to stay for a year at the University of Groningen as visiting PhD candidate.
