Professor dr ir Charalampos (Harry) Tsoumpas joined the University of Groningen in 2021 as Full Professor in Quantification in Molecular Diagnostics & Radionuclide Therapy afilliated with the Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging Department at the University Medical Centre Groningen.

Prior to his current appointment he was a Lecturer of Medical Imaging at the Biomedical Imaging Science Department, University of Leeds in the UK (2013-2021). He received his PhD on "Direct statistical parametric image estimation for linear pharmacokinetic models from quantitative positron emission tomography measurements" from Imperial College London in 2008 and worked as a post-doctoral fellow at King’s College London on PET-MRI from 2008 to 2013. His BSc in Physics (track: Nuclear & Elementary Particle Physics) was awarded by the National Kapodistrian University of Athens. His MSc in Biomedical Engineering (track: Biomedical Electronics & Informatics) was awarded by the National Technical University of Athens. He is Fellow of the Institute of Physics (IOP), Fellow of the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), Fellow of Higher Education Academy, Senior Member of IEEE, Member of the IEEE Nuclear & Plasma Sciences Society (NPSS), Member of the European Association in Nuclear Medicine (EANM) and Member of the European Society for Molecular Imaging (ESMI). He has contributions in more than 150 peer-reviewed papers, 50 conference papers, 200 conference abstracts, two scientific magazine articles, two book chapters and three international patents.
