My research concerns the mechanisms and functions of cooperation, creativity, and conflict within and between groups. The approach is broadly interdisciplinary, convering the behavioral sciences (e.g., sociology and social psychology), business and economics (e.g., organizational behavior, experimental economics), and the biological sciences (e.g., neurobiology, evolutionary theory). Indeed, while most work considers these dynamics in humans, some of it also considers other animal species, non-human primates in particular. Theory is tested with laboratory experiments, evolutionary agent-based simulations, and quantitative reviews and (meta)analyses.
