Carla Hoetink is head of the Documentation Centre for Dutch Political Parties (DNPP) and professor in History of Party Democracy at the Faculty of Arts.
Hoetink is an expert on modern representative democracy. She has a particular interest in the functioning of political institutions - of parliament, political party and social movements - and their ( conflicting) conceptions of ‘good politics’. She focuses mainly on the Netherlands in the 20th and 21st centuries, often in comparison with other countries.
As ancillary function, Hoetink is programme director of the national Research School for Political History (RSPH). In this capacity, she is responsible for the training programme of PhD and RMA students in the field of political history.
