I hold a degree in Physics from the Celso Suckow da Fonseca Federal Centre for Technological Education (Cefet/RJ) (2016-2021) and a Master’s degree in Science and Health Education from the Nutes Institute for Science and Health Education at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) (2021-2023). I am currently a PhD candidate in the same Institute, in cotutelle with the Institute for Science Education and Communication (ISEC) at the University of Groningen (RUG) (2023-).

I am actively involved in various research and outreach projects, namely: (i) “Historical Analysis of Floods and Landslides in Petrópolis”, which investigates the issue of floods and landslides in the city of Petrópolis/RJ from a historical perspective; (ii) “Science Teaching in Basic Education from the Science-Technology-Society (STS) Approach: Materials and Collaborative Educational Practices”, which draws on the expertise and experience of teachers and researchers who, over recent years, have developed initiatives and research related to initial and continuing teacher education through partnerships between universities and schools; (iii) “Science Education for Citizenship Formation”, which explores recommendations from national and international curricular documents that place education for citizenship and social justice as central purposes of science education; (iv) “Discourses in/of Science Education”, which integrates the fields of discourse, curriculum, and teacher education, producing empirical and theoretical studies on epistemological and sociopolitical aspects of science education; (v) “Social Perspectives in Science Teaching”, which investigates the role of socio-historical-cultural relations in the teaching and learning of science as well as in the initial and continuing education of science teachers; and (vi) “Socioscientific Issues in Education”, which discusses socioscientific issues, that is, contemporary questions involving the relationships between science, technology, society, controversies, and moral and ethical considerations in individual and collective decision-making.

I have presented papers and participated in symposia at national conferences – including the Simpósio Nacional de Ensino de Física, the Encontro de Pesquisa em Ensino de Física, the Encontro Nacional de Pesquisa em Educação em Ciências and the Encontro Nacional de Ensino de Ciências, da Saúde e do Ambiente – and at international conferences – including the International Organization for Science and Technology Education, European Science Education Research Association, International History, Philosophy and Science Teaching, World Conference on Physics Education, and Red Latinoamericana de Investigación en Didáctica de las Ciencias Experimentales – with particular relevance to Physics Teaching and, especially, to Science Education.

I have published scientific articles and book chapters based on research and ongoing projects. These contributions address the Science-Technology-Society perspective, scientific literacy, socioscientific issues, citizenship formation in formal and informal educational contexts, quantum mysticism in the post-truth era through a critical discourse analysis of social media content, and teacher education in Science/Physics.

I have also organised local, national, and international academic events. Of particular note: (i) at the local level, the Semana da Física at Cefet/RJ Petrópolis campus and the Jornada de Pós-graduação do Instituto Nutes de Educação em Ciências e Saúde; (ii) at the national level, the Simpósio sobre Codocência e Docência Compartilhada, and the Escola de Formação de Pesquisadores em Educação em Ciências of the Associação Brasileira de Pesquisa em Educação em Ciências; and (iii) at the international level, the International Organization for Science and Technology Education Symposium and the Congreso de la Red Latinoamericana de Investigación en Didáctica de las Ciencias Experimentales.
I have engaged in public science communication by writing articles for the PIEC-USP Student Science Outreach Magazine and was an invited speaker at the international event “Pint of Science,” where I discussed scientific denialism, post-truths, and Science Education. Furthermore, I have offered short-term courses at national academic events.

From my undergraduate years to my doctorate, I have been a scholarship recipient of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and the Rio de Janeiro State Research Support Foundation (FAPERJ), under the Institutional Programme for Teaching Initiation Grants (Pibid) and the Scientific Initiation period. In particular, I highlight my Master’s and Doctoral scholarships under CAPES’s Academic Excellence Programme and my FAPERJ “Nota 10” scholarship at the postgraduate level. I also completed a student exchange programme during my undergraduate studies at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança in Portugal.
