A.S. Lehmann, Prof Dr
German by origin, Lehmann studied art history at the of Universities of Vienna and Utrecht, where she received her PhD in 2004 with a dissertation titled “In the Flesh. Jan van Eyck’s Adam and Eve Panels and the Making of the Northern Nude”. In 2002 she became assistant professor and later associate professor at the Department of Media & Culture Studies at Utrecht. In 2005 Lehmann received a NWO Veni Grant. She has published widely in English, German and Dutch and regularly speaks at international conferences. Lehmann has received fellowships from the Warburg Institute, the Getty Research Institute, and the Max Planck-Institute for the History of Science. She is editor of the forthcoming series Studies in Art & Materiality (Brill) and serves on the editorial boards of the Netherlands Yearbook for History of Art and Kunstschrift. She acts as reviewer for NWO, NIAS, AHRC, and DfG and is a member of the scientific boards of the Making & Knowing Project (Columbia University, NY), Arttechne (Utrecht), NICAS (Amsterdam).
