My PhD project examines the impact of railway development in Indonesian cities since 1864 and its implications for current heritage management in historic urban centres. By focusing on the transformation of urban form and patterns, and the introduction of modern architecture and town planning practices, this research highlights the major role of rail infrastructure in urban context, which intertwined with the history of Dutch colonialism in the Dutch East Indies.
Before starting my PhD trajectory in 2022, I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Brawijaya, Indonesia in 2013 and a Master’s Degree in History of Architecture and Town Planning from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands in 2020.
My interests include architecture and urban history, colonial studies, and the theory and practices of cultural heritage.
