Agha Bayramov is Assistant Professor at the Department of International Relations and International Organization of the University of Groningen.  He teaches seminars on Energy Security and Climate Change, Political Science, History of International Relations, and International Organization. He was a research fellow in the Center for Eastern European Studies at the University of Zurich in 2022. Agha Bayramov delivered a guest lecture at Harvard University's Davis Center in 2023, Tokyo International University and the University of Zurich in 2022. Bayramov has delivered invited guest lectures and training sessions including a session on energy security and critical raw materials cooperation in Central Asia for the Clingendael Institute’s diplomatic programme for junior diplomats from Central Asia and Mongolia.

Beyond teaching and research, he regularly contributed to public debate through newspaper op-eds and by giving interviews to journalists.

His research interests are energy security, geopolitics, the Caspian Sea region, Karabakh, renewable energy, and climate change. Dr. Bayramov has spent extensive time conducting field research in the Caspian Sea region.

Agha Bayramov received his PhD degree from the University of Groningen in 2020, his MA from the same university, and his BA from the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara, Turkey
