Introduction to GIS for PhD students

This course is for all PhD students who want to use GIS in their research project. The course is designed for PhD students who have no prior knowledge of GIS or who need a refresher on geodata. If you have research data with a spatial component (e.g. coordinates, addresses, postal codes, countries, or geographical datasets) or want to add the spatial perspective with geo-data collection this course will be a good starting point.

In this course we will cover how to design your research with GIS as well as the main geo-tools for data collection, analysis and visualization. Furthermore you will receive personal support in which we will make the theory applicable to your own research project.

  • Main analytical methods in GIS

  • Visualization of geographical data

  • Personal coaching from GIS experts on how to use GIS in your PhD research

Course will be given by the GIS experts of the Geodienst . The course will be held in English.
