The chemistry olympiad is a competition for high school students (havo and vwo). The four students that performed the best will represent the Netherlands in the International Chemistry Olympiad in Bangkok, Thailand.
The first round of the chemistry olympiad is a theoretical test of two hours that you can take at your school. The test consist of both open and multiple choice questions. The best 90 students are invited to participate in the second round. Among all contestants we allot ten cinema-vouchers. Also, if your score is high enough, you will get a certificate. Joining the chemistry olympiad is fun and a good preparation for your exams!
The second round is a theoretical test of three hours, consisting of open questions and multiple choice questions. You take this test at your school. The University of Groningen offers a training for the second round which you are free to join. The best twenty students will be invited for the National Final of eight days at the University of Groningen.
The university of Groningen offers an intensive training coruse with lectures and practical work. At the end of the week you will take a theoretical and a practical exam, both of which will take four hours. You are allowed to use a binas and (graphical) calculator for all tests.The best four candidates will receive a GR TI-nspire cx and a VNCI-cheque (worth €250,-). They will also represent the Netherlands at the International Chemistry Olympiad, where they will get a chance to compete against students from different countries and meet international peers.
