The small exhibition Makers of the UG in the University museum presents recent inventions and ongoing research by UG researchers.

UG researchers contribute to solutions for significant scientific and societal challenges across various fields, from medicine to energy. The exhibition shows newly developed measuring instruments for scientific research, as well as products designed to transform our daily lives.

Access to the University museum is free for; children (0-18 years), with a Museumcard or Stadjerspas, employees or students of the UG + UMCG. Access with CJP Cultuurpas; € 4,50. Regular tickets; € 7,50.

Hoe vaak check jij het nieuws? De manier waarop we nieuws volgen en delen is in de afgelopen decennia drastisch veranderd. Inmiddels zijn online nieuws en sociale media voor jongeren de belangrijkste nieuwsbronnen. Via deze wegen is nieuws altijd en overal beschikbaar, maar het voortdurende aanbod zorgt ervoor dat veel mensen zich overladen voelen. Sommigen ontwikkelen stress of angst en mijden het nieuws steeds vaker. Hoe kun je op de hoogte blijven zonder overspoeld te raken? Hoe is de kwaliteit van nieuws veranderd door de komst van online bronnen? En welke journalistieke methoden helpen je om informatie kritisch te beoordelen? 

Moderator Thandeka Kramer-Wolf verkent in dit Kenniscafé wat deze ontwikkelingen betekenen voor de manier waarop we omgaan met nieuws. Hoogleraar Klinische Psychologie Maaike Nauta legt uit hoe jongeren emoties als angst en stress ontwikkelen door het nieuws. Met hoogleraar Media en Journalistieke Cultuur Marcel Broersma spreekt zij over het fenomeen nieuwsmijden.

In het Kenniscafé praten we elke maand met Groningse wetenschappers, onderzoekers en andere experts over actuele thema's. Het Kenniscafé wordt georganiseerd i.s.m. met Forum Groningen en wordt ondersteund door het Akkoord van Groningen.
