P(land)t Expedition, 12–13 June 2025: Leadership Development Inspired by Nature

P(land)t Expedition, 12–13 June 2025.

The Rudolf Agricola School, together with the University of Groningen Business School, is creating a walking route that follows the flow of water from the Fochteloërveen to Schiermonnikoog. This walking route emphasizes slowing down, experiencing wonder, and connecting with nature and with one another. In addition, art projects, leadership training, and lectures are being prepared to take place along the route.

On June 12 & 13 2025, we organized a pilot retreat at the Leekstermeer for participants of the S3ORTED project. S3ORTED is an ambitious project focused on strengthening the circular textile value chain in the Northern Netherlands.

During this two-day retreat, themes such as leadership in relation to ecology, systems thinking, and regeneration were explored. Theory, practical examples, and experiential assignments alternated, with space for reflection, dialogue, and sharing of personal insights.

In the quiet landscape of the Onlanden, between Drenthe and Groningen, participants found room for slowing down, deepening, and genuine encounters—with each other, with nature, and with their own leadership.

Together with local artists and scientists from the University of Groningen, the Rudolf Agricola School developed a programme that connects head, heart, and hands. We combine knowledge from regenerative leadership, ecological systems, and future thinking with the power of walking, sensory experiences, and slowing down in the field. Leadership today requires not just strategy, but also imagination, connection, and a strong inner foundation.

Natural ecosystems are a powerful source of inspiration for organizational and leadership challenges: How do we collaborate, adapt, and transform in complex environments? Nature serves as a guide for a new perspective on leadership.

Natural ecosystems can teach us much about balance, cooperation, adaptation, and innovation in today’s business ecosystems. By temporarily immersing ourselves in the rhythm and logic of the landscape, we use nature as both a mirror and a source of inspiration to arrive at profound leadership development and systemic insights.
