Experiments at large scale facilities

Many of our experiments rely on photon and particle beams that are not available in-house. To address this, we have developed versatile and compact experimental setups that can be transported to large-scale research facilities. During dedicated beamtime campaigns, these setups are integrated with the respective beamlines, allowing us to combine advanced experimental techniques—such as radiofrequency ion manipulation and trapping, mass spectrometry, ion mobility spectrometry, and X-ray spectroscopy—with state-of-the-art radiation sources ranging from synchrotrons and free-electron lasers to heavy-ion accelerators and ultrashort laser systems.
