New MSCA PF 2025 Project at the Zernike Institute: “Neuromorphic Touch”

We are delighted to announce that Dr. Shavika Rastogi has been awarded a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA PF) for her project “Neuromorphic Touch.”
This year’s MSCA PF call was exceptionally competitive. In September 2025, the European Commission received 17,058 proposals — the highest number in the programme’s history — leading to lower success rates and higher cutoff scores across Europe.
Against this backdrop, Shavika’s success is an outstanding achievement.
Her project addresses a critical challenge in neuroprosthetics: restoring the sense of touch after limb amputation. Neuromorphic Touch explores how CMOS-based neuromorphic circuits can replace power-hungry external processors, enabling real-time, biologically inspired tactile processing directly in hardware.
The research aims to improve:
✅ Biomimetic tactile perception
✅ Energy-efficient neuromorphic computation
✅ Embodiment and portability of neuroprosthetic systems
We are excited to welcome Shavika to the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials and look forward to the innovations her work will bring to neuromorphic engineering and sensory restoration.
