Zernike Colloquium - Martin Ziegler - Memristive systems for the emulation of biological learning

When:Th 04-02-2021 16:00 - 17:00
Where:Location: https://bluejeans.com/769981314

Memristive devices offer a number of new opportunities for neuromorphic electronics and there is currently a strong effort to find suitable device structures for this application. In this talk, the important biological mechanisms for learning and memory emulation and their transfer to memristive devices will be presented. To this end, the framework of Hebbian learning models will be presented and it will be shown how these models can be applied to memristive devices. In this context, important cellular paradigms of information processing are explained, which enable a transition from the cellular to the network level. Furthermore, existing challenges that have to be solved for the development of cognitive electronics are addressed and examples of possible ways of a realization are shown.
