The High-Energy Frontier

At the High-energy Frontier, we search for new physics beyond the Standard Model by making use of the latest LHC data. The objective of one research line, Flavour physics, is to clarify the relative abundance of matter over antimatter in our Universe. It employs precision experiments on the decay of the bottom quark and other heavy particles at the LHCb experiment. In a second research line, New physics of the Higgs, the aim is to elucidate the nature of the Higgs boson. Important questions are whether it can be used to probe the Standard Model further and whether it forms a portal to new physics. The proximity between these two subjects leads to great synergy between the two research lines.
