OIKOS Nunspeet seminar on Methods and Techniques

From:Fr 05-11-2021
Until:Sa 06-11-2021
Where:Hotel Veldenbos, Nunspeet

The annual OIKOS Nunspeet Seminar is planned to take place on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 November 2021 in Hotel Veldenbos (Nunspeet).

Program

This year, scholars from five different disciplines will discuss the methods and techniques of our field of research. The Nunspeet seminar is part of the recommended course curriculum for both PhD and ReMA students. Take a look at the program for Nunspeet 2021. All papers will be presented in English.

ECTS

Students who complete the Nunspeet seminar receive 2 ECTS, which they can validate with their own university via a testimonium. Participants are expected to:

  • attend both days of the seminar and participate in the discussions (NB: it is not possible to attend only one day of the seminar)
  • read literature in preparation of the seminar (approximately 50 pages per paper, which will be distributed well before the start of the seminar) and prepare a critical question for each lecture.

Registration

If you want to register, please send an email to the OIKOS office (oikos rug.nl) stating your name, your status (PhD or ReMA student) and university, and any dietary wishes (vegetarianism, allergies) or other requirements. The deadline for registration is Monday, October 4, 2021. As we have not yet received all email addresses of new ReMA students, we hope that you could spread the word and invite those that are not yet on our email list.

We are able to accommodate approximately 30 participants. Students who have not yet participated in the 'Methods and Techniques'-cycle (alternating annually with the 'History of the discipline'-cycle) will be given priority, and likewise members are given priority over associated members of OIKOS. Furthermore, we will aim for a proper ratio between PhDs and Research Master students. Given these requirements, places will be assigned in order of registration (first come, first served).

Costs

Participants are expected to pay for their own travel expenses to and from Nunspeet. OIKOS will cover all additional costs (lunches, dinner, breakfast and accommodation). Note that attendance if necessary can be cancelled only up to a week before the seminar; after that we will have to charge the room and dinner reservation (appr. €150,-).

COVID-19

We have been in touch with the hotel, and it seems possible to facilitate the program in line with the governmental regulations regarding covid-19. In case it won't be possible to organize the program as planned, we will get in touch with all participants in advance.

If there are any questions, please let us know (oikos rug.nl): we are happy to help you.
