Centre for Digital Humanities

Content from social media and audio-visual media, sets of big data, digital archives, computerized handwriting analysis – today’s digital culture is causing rapid changes to how research in the Humanities is conducted. The digital revolution does not only offer new methodologies which can give fresh insights on historical material, but also creates new cultural expressions. The Groningen Centre for Digital Humanities promotes a multi- and interdisciplinary approach to foster innovative research and to fuse the strengths of humanities research with those of computer and information science.

The Groningen Centre for Digital Humanities is an interfaculty platform that connects scholars from the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Religion, Culture and Society and the Faculty of Arts. It supports scholars from these faculties in training Digital Humanities skills, and in collaborating, designing, funding and thinking about DH research projects.
