Research Francesco Picchioni

Francesco Picchioni received his Ph.D in Polymer Chemistry at Department of Chemistry, Università di Pisa (Italy) in 2000.

After a postdoc in the Technical University of Eindhoven (Tue, The Netherlands) from 2000-2002, he has been at University of Groningen (RuG, The Netherlands) at the Chemical Engineering Department.

Currently he is a full professor of the group of Product Technology. He is currently involved in varied research projects on water soluble polymers for enhanced oil recovery, thermoreversible polymers for 3D printing and chemical modification of polyolefins.

He is a co-inventor of 8 patents and has been an invited speaker in more than 12 international conferences.

He has an extensive spectrum of academic (more than 20 cooperation projects with universities/research institutes outside the Netherlands) and industrial cooperations with a current network of more than 15 companies, of which 5 multi-nationals, actively sponsoring the research director of the Master Programmes in Chemical Engineering (2014-2017), Industrial Engineering and Management (2012-2016) and Bachelor in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering (2017-now)
