UNL Conference: Shaping future publication cultures at Dutch universities
On 11 November 2026, UNL (Universities of the Netherlands) is organising the conference Shaping future publication cultures at Dutch universities at the Vredenburg Conference Centre in Utrecht.
Current publication practices face a number of important challenges: the tension between quality and quantity, the growing costs of scholarly publishing, the need to safeguard research integrity and reproducibility, and the pressure on the peer-review system. The recently published UNL Vision on Publication Culture provides a shared framework for reflecting on how Dutch universities can create publication cultures that strengthen research quality and integrity, support diverse scholarly contributions, and are open, sustainable and fit-for-purpose.
This high-level event will bring together university leaders, researchers, research support professionals, funders and other stakeholders to explore what the Vision means in practice. The programme will combine strategic dialogue, examples from universities and faculties, and discussion of practical implementation.
