Power, Statecraft, and the History of Political Experiences
This research group comprises historians exploring various facets of political change, leadership dynamics, participatory politics, statecraft, and notions of citizenship throughout history. By working on the historical practices and experiences that made and make politics relevant, we aim to offer insights on the mechanisms through which power is wielded and negotiated within societies.
Among the timely topics within our area of expertise are: the experience of emotions that enable social actors to participate in politics; the construction of political networks; the historical formation of political ideas and their social life; the relationship between religion and politics; the cultural representations of power.
