How can judges and online platforms navigate the gray areas between satire and defamation, provocative jokes and hate speech, or parody and copyright violation? These issues will be at the center of the upcoming public event What’s in a Joke? Humor in Free Speech Jurisprudence and Content Moderation, to be hosted by Columbia Global Freedom of Expression in New York (with online streaming) on Oct 25th, 2:30pm-5:30pm EDT (8:30-11:30 pm CEST). ICOG members Dr Alberto Godioli and Dr Jennifer Young will present their forthcoming toolkit by the same title, followed by a roundtable with speakers from UNESCO, ARTICLE 19, and the African and European Human Rights Courts.
