This guest lecture is hosted by the Americas Research Collective with support from the US Embassy in the Hague.
In 2022, Dr. J. Jesse Ramírez (University of St. Gallen, Switzerland) published the book Un-American Dreams: A study of US apocalyptic science fiction in the short century of American superpower, 1945-2001. On February 15, 2024, Dr. Ramírez will be visiting the University of Groningen to give a guest lecture on this same topic. What does it mean to imagine the utopian possibilities of an un-American world?
