Emerging varieties of capitalism in the Post-Soviet era
The IPE chair is actively participating in the project Emerging Markets in Central Asia This project under supervision of Joachim Ahrens (Professor of International Economics at the University of Applied Sciences in Göttingen, Germany) is financed by the Volkswagen Foundation. Its primary aim is to explore the varieties of capitalism that are emerging in Central Asia. The main focus is on Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, two relatively successful post-Soviet transition countries that reveal quite distinct patterns of market reform and democratization.
