Abstract
In this talk, Dr Dass draws from her book-project, Left Luggage: Cinematic Legacies of the Indian People’s Theatre Movement, which connects 1950s Bombay cinema to the creative networks, modernist experiments, and political aspirations fostered by the Indian left cultural movement of the 1940s. The talk will explore notions of “cinematic legacy” and the historiographic implications of looking beyond films and facts for excavating the affective underpinnings and unrealized possibilities of a radical past.
