Project Description:

This project focuses on Anglo-Saxon pottery of the Netherlands. Subject of the research are the developments in Anglo-Saxon pottery, its development from the Roman Age ware and its development into the Hessens-Schortens ware. The study aims at finding ways to determine the chronology of the developments within the pottery and the period of time during which certain types occurred, both by using relative dates and absolute dates. Regional differences within the NorthernNetherlands are studies, as well as the international context of the material. Processes concerning the introduction of the pottery are studied, in combination with the occupational hiatus and / or partial continuation of habit ion in the previous period.
