Day 5, Summer School Data Science and AI in Health 2023

Last day of our Summer School 2023. It was interesting, hard work, sometimes exhausting, but overall great fun.

This afternoon the participants presented the results of their group projects. Winners of the best presentation: João Abrantes, Anne-Jet Jansen, Zhiwen Liu and Simin Elif Türker. Congratulations!!!

On behalf of the organizing team and lecturers, thanks to all participants. It was great fun!

Day 5, Summer School Data Science and AI in Health 2023

Last day of our summer school. The morning started off with a presentation of Bart Scheerder discussing the business aspects of AI in Healthcare. Next, Erfan Darzidehkalani gave a presentation on Federated Deep Learning, The morning was finished with a round table discussion with Mirjam Plantinga, Hylke Donker, Michiel Vos, Eline Meijer, Erfan Darzidehkalani and Peter van Ooijen on 'The Future of AI in Medicine' hosted by Bart Scheerder.

In the afternoon participants will present the results of their group projects and the summer school will be rounded up by a festive closing ceremony and Farewell dinner.

Day 3, Summer School Data Science and AI in Health 2023

On the third day of our summer school, we had a wonderfully interesting tour to various locations within Groningen.

The morning was kicked off by colleague Jasper Bosman, who updated us on Bytesnet's state-of-the-art facilities, followed by Shubham Singh, who provided an introduction on the UbiOps platform, after which Elisabeth Wilhelm and colleagues gave a presentation on robotisation and AI-controlled prosthetics and several workshops, including a VR game.

The afternoon saw a visit to Certe, where Albert Wolthuis gave a presentation on the high-quality medical diagnostics/support they provide to hospitals, GPs and others. Followed by a visit to their lab.

The day ended with a visit to the mock-up rooms of the new UMCG. Many thanks to our UB35 colleagues Peter Mees, Renée Suichies and Marjolein Blaauw.

Day 1, Summer School Data Science and AI in Health 2023

Official start of the 3^rd edition of our Summer School Data Science and AI in Health. After two online versions due to COVID-19, for the first time in our beautiful University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in Groningen, The Netherlands. The morning was kicked-off by our dean Wiro Niessen and Peter van Ooijen, followed by Elena Sügis from the University of Tartu. She gaves an introduction to AI in Biomedical Sciences.

ENLIGHT grant for inviting dr. Elena Sügis

The Summer School Data Science and AI in Health has received an ENLIGHT grant from the board of the University of Groningen for inviting dr. Elena Sügis, biomedical data scientist and AI educator of the Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu (Estonia) to participate in our summer school. In 2022, dr. Sügis was elected lecturer of the year at the Institute of Computer Science, University of Tartu. She also participated as lecturer in our previous two, online summer schools.

Summer School Data Science and AI in Health, Edition 2023

The Summer School Data Science and AI in Health, Edition 2023, will take place from 16-22 July, 2023, on site, at our beautiful University Medical Center (UMCG) in Groningen, The Netherlands.

Day 5, Summer School Data Science and AI in Health 2022

The final day of our summer school started off with a panel discussion chaired by Bart Scheerder with experts from different domains including Elena Sügis, Stefan Phillips, Mirjam Plantinga and Peter Van Ooijen.

After the panel discussion the participants presented the results of their assignment, showcasing the skills that they have picked up during the course.

The final day of our summer school was concluded with a networking event in Gather.town, where participants were introduced to some innovative companies, such as Novartis, Oro Muscles, Reperio, Researchable and Syntho, and where connections were made.

Day 2, Summer School Data Science and AI in Health 2022

The second day of our Summer School was kicked-off by Peter Van Ooijen with an interactive presentation on the use of the Machine Learning Canvas. His lecture was followed by a lecture of Kerstin Bunte focusing on some typical problems of the use of AI in health followed by some practical tips.
