GSG welcomes Flávio Eiró as Director of Studies
We are very happy to have Dr Flávio Eiró join the GSG team as the new Director of Studies of our university minor on Development Studies. He will both be teaching as well as taking responsibility of the academic management of the minor.
Since 2021, Dr Flávio Eiró is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts (Minorities & Multilingualism). He was trained in sociology and sustainable development studies at the University of Brasília, and holds a PhD in Sociology from the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, France. Prior to Groningen, Flávio was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Anthropology and Development Studies at Radboud University, Nijmegen. He has conducted ethnographic research in Northeast Brazil since 2012, and has published widely on issues surrounding politics, anti-poverty policies and climate change adaptation. In the Faculty of Arts, Flávio teaches and researches issues related to politics of diversity, minorities and race, and in the Minor Development Studies he teaches the course Ethnicity, Culture & Politics.
