Breaking the News: How Social Media Change Journalism in a Globalizing World

In today’s interactive digital information environment, journalists lose the power to define what makes and shapes the news. With new distribution tools such as Twitter at hand, bloggers, activists and citizen journalists have entered the playing field of traditional journalists and impacted the global news landscape. Using examples from the Arab Spring to WikiLeaks, Heinrich will map out today’s dynamics of communication and information exchange.
