Stijn Janssen will speak about Dutch development policy and the changing international context, taking on board recent developments, such as Afghanistan, covid-19 and Haiti. She will share with you her own experiences acquired in her past and present positions and her motivations for working in this field.
Speaker Bio:
Stijn Janssen is senior advisor to the Director General International Cooperation and deputy head of the Bureau for International Cooperation at the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She spent over 6 years in Kenya, working for the European Union and the Netherlands Embassy on UN, security, political and development issues. Prior, she held several other positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Humanitarian Aid, EU-Affairs, Civil Society Division), where she started her diplomatic career in 2006. Before that, she worked at Oxfam Novib, interned at the Labour Party’s Evert Vermeer Stichting, travelled, and played the bass guitar in a rock band.
