WORKSHOP on Uneven Power – research & vulnerability
|When:||Tu 10-12-2019 10:00 - 13:00|
|Where:||Expositie Ruimte, Harmonie Building|
As academics conducting empirical research and field work we all experienced situations in which we were confronted with vulnerable groups or individuals that are part of our study, or with our own vulnerability.
Globalisation Studies Groningen (GSG) cordially invites you to attend a workshop on research and vulnerability on December 10, from 10.00-13.00, in the Expositie Room in the Harmonie Building. The aim of this workshop is to bring together researchers from Groningen University to share their experiences in the field.
Three researchers have been invited to introduce the theme from different perspectives.
- Dr. Chris van der Borgh (Utrecht University) will talk about his experiences with research on gangs in El Salvador.
- Professor Ymkje Stienstra will discuss her experiences in the field of medical research.
- Dr. Caitlin Ryan’s experiences illustrate the issues a researcher can be confronted with when working in a research team which includes international and local researchers.
In the second part of the workshop, we invite you to share your own experiences and strategies to deal with unexpected situations.
We would very much like to welcome you on the 10th of December, registration is free and open to RUG staff and PhD students.
Hope to meet you on the 10th of December!
