Education

MSc Marine Biology

The University of Groningen offers the only fully accredited Master Programme in Marine Biology in the Netherlands, with a focus on ecology and evolution. Begun in 1986, the program attracts between 20-30 students annually. Since 2015, the Marine Biology master's programme is set up in co-operation with the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research (Texel, Yerseke). We offer a new set of courses and have opened the program for all bachelor students in biology. The courses are taught by:

  • UG Marine Biology group and Ocean Ecosystems group, with additional input from other GELIFES research groups
  • NIOZ (Netherlands Institute of Sea Research) - on the Dutch Wadden Sea island Texel and in Yerseke (situated on the southern shore of the Oosterschelde (Eastern Scheldt) estuary in the province of Zeeland).
