Research GBB Information for ...

Prospective PhD students

At GBB PhD positions mainly are offered by the staff members of the research groups and generally vacancies are announced by regular means (papers, networks, on-line) for which candidates can apply. Commonly, selection is competitively for which applicants are evaluated on indivual qualifications and motivation.

Additionally, GBB accepts, hosts and supports foreign PhD fellows who have attracted their funding or scholarship in their own country, allowing them to do a PhD study in the Netherlands at GBB. For instance, we supervise PhD studies of fellows supported governmental programmes of Iran, Pakistan, Indonesia, and China as well as fellows who are (partially) supported by Erasmus Mundus or other grants. Prior to acceptance the qualifications, motivation and communicative skills of candidate fellows will be thoroughly evaluated.

PhD students at GBB will be admitted to the Graduate School of Science , providing a well-structured environment for professional competence development through PhD training and supervision. The current pass rate at GBB is high (95%) with on average the PhD degree awarded between 4-4.5 years, depending on the date of the formal thesis defense.

If you would like to become a PhD student at GBB, you are recommended to apply for a vacancy at one of our research groups. For this, please check Job Opportunities of GBB or or the vacancies of the University

In case you have attracted you own fellowship or scholarship, please contact the GBB Research Manager
