Researchgroup Cold Molecules

Welcome to the webpages of the Cold Molecules Group. On these pages you can read about our experimental program to control and cool small neutral molecules. One of the main aims of our research is to use these molecules to study the fundamental interactions and symmetries of the Standard model of particle physics.

A central theme in our research is the manipulation of molecules by electric, magnetic and optical fields. Using these external fields their motion as well as their internal quantum state can be fully controlled. The novel techniques that we develop in this area have a large impact on a variety of research fields such as cold chemistry, precision spectroscopy, and complex quantum materials.
