Visualization has become an indispensable tool in Advanced Instrumentation for the exploration of the huge data archives produced by these instruments. The new model is query-driven visualization, where automated algorithms run within the database. Another important role of visualization is quality control of large instruments and man-made artifacts such as robotic systems.
