CogniGron joins Future of Compute innovation mission to the UK

CogniGron recently participated in the Future of Compute innovation mission to the United Kingdom — an initiative designed to strengthen connections between the Dutch and UK ecosystems in AI, integrated photonics, and neuromorphic computing.

Supported by Topsector ICT, Holland High Tech, AIC4NL, and PhotonDelta, the mission brought together researchers, innovators, and industry leaders from both countries. The shared goal: to accelerate innovation and foster collaboration in technologies that will define the next generation of computing.

The mission takes place against the backdrop of a global race to seize opportunities offered by emerging technologies. The Netherlands, with its strong foundation in both fundamental and applied research — spanning hardware design to system architecture — is well positioned to contribute. Its ecosystem of universities, research institutes, startups, SMEs, and industry players thrives on co-design, valorisation, and collaboration.

Similarly, the United Kingdom is home to some of the world’s leading ecosystems in AI, photonics, and neuromorphic computing. This mission provides a platform to build bridges, align research and industrial agendas, and shape a shared vision that transcends disciplinary boundaries.

The programme included working visits, presentations, and discussions with key British stakeholders, offering opportunities for knowledge exchange across all three technological domains. Cross-sector sessions further encouraged collaboration and dialogue between participants from different fields.

As the future of computing continues to unfold, collaboration between AI, photonics, and neuromorphic computing is essential. Shared goals, open exchange, a common language, and co-design of complementary hardware and software will be key to success. The Future of Compute mission marks an important step toward strengthening these connections and advancing this vision together.
