Demonstrators
From fundamental insights to tangible impact
CogniGron’s demonstrator programme is a co-creation initiative where researchers and industry partners jointly explore the potential of neuromorphic computing. Through pre-competitive collaboration, we develop early-stage solutions — from proof of concepts to functional prototypes — that showcase the unique capabilities of this emerging technology.
Why demonstrators?
The world is calling for radically new computing technologies. The demonstrator programme accelerates innovation by bridging the gap between fundamental research and practical application.

-
Respond to growing market demand for sustainable, low-power computing.
-
Align technological development with real-world use cases from industry.
-
Enhance collaboration across disciplines by uniting researchers around a shared design challenge.
-
Increase the likelihood of future market adoption.
-
Lay the groundwork for strategic partnerships and future grant consortia.
-
Serve as a launchpad for challenge-based education initiatives.
What is a demonstrator?
A demonstrator is a prototype or proof-of-concept solution to a concrete challenge formulated by one or more companies. These premature solutions integrate new and existing knowledge into a coherent whole — demonstrating the possibilities of neuromorphic computing from an end-user perspective.
How it works
Each demonstrator team is composed of:
-
A dedicated research lead (postdoc) who serves as liaison with industry partners and CogniGron’s principal investigators.
-
A minimum of two PhD researchers working on different aspects of the demonstrator.
-
Optional master’s students for short-term, challenge-based projects.
-
Optional part-time partnerships with researchers from affiliated companies.

Together, these teams co-develop solutions that work towards three key features of neuromorphic computing:
-
Latency / Edge computing
-
Energy Efficiency
-
Security
Our partners
CogniGron and its industrial partners jointly steer the content and direction of each demonstrator project. This shared responsibility strengthens alignment and accelerates learning on both sides.

Join our demonstrator initiative!
Whether you're a company with a bold challenge or a researcher looking to connect fundamental science with application, we’d love to hear from you.
