Predrag Andric joins ENTEG as affiliate assistant professor

Effective January 2026, Dr. Predrag Andric will join the Chair for Mechanics of Materials at ENTEG, led by Prof. Francesco Maresca, as an Affiliate Assistant Professor.
Predrag Andric earned his MSc degree in Mechanical Engineering, specializing in Aerospace Engineering, from the University of Belgrade (Serbia) in 2013. Following his graduation, Predrag began his PhD studies at EPFL in Switzerland under the supervision of Professor William Curtin. His PhD research focused on understanding atomic-scale crack-tip phenomena in crystalline materials. His final thesis was titled "The mechanics of crack-tip dislocation emission and twinning". Predrag received a distinction for an outstanding thesis in the EPFL Doctoral Program in Mechanics (EDME) and was awarded the 2020 Swiccomas Prize on Computational Methods in Applied Science and Engineering.
After completing his PhD studies in 2019, Predrag joined the SKF Research and Technology Development (RTD) Center in the Netherlands. He continued his in-depth industrial research there, focusing on the mechanics and modeling of materials for Tribological applications. Specifically, Predrag worked on problems related to strengthening mechanisms in advanced high-strength steels, accelerated material characterization, and the theoretical description of various surface failure modes, such as surface fatigue and adhesive wear. Over the past six years, Predrag held several positions at SKF RTD, progressing from Researcher and Senior Researcher to eventually becoming the Tribology Team Leader.
We warmly welcome Predrag in our institute and look forward collaborating with him.
