Introducing our new scientific staff member Vasilis Kyriakou
As of December 1, Dr. Vasileios (Vasilis) Kyriakou started as a tenure-track assistant professor in Energy Systems and Conversion, a position embedded within Product Technology unit of ENTEG.
Vasilis holds a PhD in Electrochemical Process Engineering (2013) and a Diploma in Chemical Engineering (2008) from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. He has been a postdoctoral associate of the Yildiz Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research (DIFFER), the Centre for Research & Technology, Hellas (CERTH) and a visiting scientist of the Centre national de la recherche scientifique (CNRS) in Lyon, France.

His research background includes chemical and electrochemical reaction engineering, materials science and engineering, heterogeneous catalysis, as well as solid state electrochemistry fields, publishing 36 peer-reviewed articles in acknowledged scientific journals. Vasilis is also a member of the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Environmental Chemistry and a regular reviewer in > 20 journals. His current research focus on experimental and mechanistic methods to explore nanoengineered electrocatalysts and alternative processes for sustainable (electro)chemical energy storage and chemical cogeneration applications. Two of his latest articles on sustainable nitrogen fixation through an electrochemical alternative of the Haber-Bosch process (Joule, 4, 142) and operando observation of exsolution (ACS Nano, 13, 12996) were praised by Science, C&EN and Nature Catalysis.
We congratulate Vasilis with his new position and look forward collaborating with him.
