Dr. Dulce M. Morales

The Engineering and Technology institute Groningen welcomes Dr. Dulce M. Morales within the team. Dulce M. Morales is starting as a tenure track assistant professor within the Chemical Engineering - Product Technology group. She will establish a research line in the field of electrocatalysis for the conversion of renewable resources to fuels and value-added chemicals.

Dulce M. Morales obtained the Bachelor degree in Industrial Chemical Engineering from Instituto Politécnico Nacional, and the Project Management Diploma from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, in 2012 in Mexico City. She earned her Masters and Dr. rer. nat. degrees in 2015 and 2019, respectively, mentored by Prof. Wolfgang Schuhmann at Ruhr Universität Bochum in Germany. The topic of her doctoral thesis was the fabrication, evaluation and optimization of non-precious metal-based electrocatalysts for the oxygen reduction reaction (applicable in fuel cells) and for the oxygen evolution reaction (applicable in water electrolyzers). D.M. Morales continued as a postdoc in the same group where she broadened her research towards the field of electrocatalytic oxidation of alcohols. In April 2020, she joined Dr. Marcel Risch’s team at Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin as a postdoc to contribute to the research on the mechanistic aspects of the oxygen evolution reaction by means of coupled electrochemistry and X-ray absorption spectroscopy methods. In October 2020 she was promoted to Deputy Head of the group, and in 2021 she became recipient of the SPP 2080 “DynaKat” Early Career Research Scholarship for Female Scientists, funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), for the investigation of electrocatalytic properties of oxygen‐evolving catalysts at industry‐relevant operating conditions.

Welcome at ENTEG Dulce. We look forward to start collaborating with you.
