Prof.dr. Francesco Maresca

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Francesco Maresca has been promoted to Associate Professor in the field of Engineering Mechanics and Materials Science. This promotion is a testament to his outstanding contributions to both research and education within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. Dr. Maresca will establish and chair the new Mechanics of Materials research unit within ENTEG.

Dr. Maresca's research focuses on the multiscale modeling of materials, with particular emphasis on the mechanics of plastic deformation, phase transitions, and failure. His work bridges the gap between fundamental material behaviors at the nano- and microscopic scales and engineering properties, which is crucial for optimizing materials performance, advancing sustainable manufacturing processes, and assessing material compatibility in the context of the energy transition. By combining theoretical and computational approaches across multiple scales, Dr. Maresca continues to make significant advancements in materials science and engineering mechanics.

This promotion to Associate Professor not only recognizes Dr. Maresca’s achievements but also highlights the importance of his research in deepening our understanding of materials and their practical applications. We are proud to have him as part of our team and look forward to seeing his continued contributions to the scientific community.

Congratulations to Dr. Francesco Maresca on this well-deserved accomplishment.
