Euverink engages in successful JTF grant application for innovative bioplastics project
A consortium, led by Paques Biomaterials B.V. and consisting of the SMEs Maan Glueing Technologies, Senbis Polymer Innovations, and the knowledge institutes University of Groningen (UG), Hanze University of Applied Sciences, and NHL Stenden University of Applied Sciences successfully secured a JTF subsidy project of almost €4 million for the three-year project, "Market-driven synthesis of fit-for-purpose bioplastics (PHBVs)." The project, with a total investment of €8 million, aims to delve deeper into the extensive varieties of PHBVs that can be derived from waste streams and explore their wide-ranging potential for various applications.
Professor Gert Jan Euverink from ENTEG is the UG partner in this consortium. This initiative not only marks a milestone in the pursuit of innovative bioplastics but also aligns with ENTEG's efforts to foster collaboration between academia and applied sciences. The project signifies a step towards the establishment of a hybrid research group between the research group of Gert Jan Euverink, professor in Products and Processes for Biotechnology in the Biobased Economy, and Janneke Krooneman, professor of Bioconversion and Fermentation Technology at the Hanze University of Applied Sciences.
