Chemical Recycling of Plastic Waste: Insights from Noorderzon's Flash Lecture
On August 27, 2024, ENTEG's Peter Deuss delivered a "flash lecture" on the chemical recycling of plastic waste at the Noorderzon Festival in Groningen. This presentation was part of the Young Academy Groningen series, featuring researchers from the University of Groningen discussing diverse scientific topics. This innovative format, described as "perhaps the shortest college of your life," aimed to make complex scientific topics accessible to a diverse audience.
Deuss explained how catalytic pyrolysis can enhance plastic waste management, emphasizing its potential advantages over traditional recycling methods. He also highlighted the collaboration between the University of Groningen and BioBTX, a company specializing in chemical recycling technology, and their plans to establish a new plant in Delfzijl.
This presentation was one of several in the Young Academy Groningen series at Noorderzon, which showcased a range of research topics from health and mathematics to psychology and art, reflecting the breadth of research conducted at the University of Groningen.
