Mission

The mission of the Centre is to carry out interdisciplinary teaching and research at Fudan University on topics related to the Dutch economy, politics, society and culture, to cultivate experts and talents in the field of Dutch studies, and to enhance the mutual understanding and exchange between China and the Netherlands. On the Dutch side, the Centre also aims to increase the interest in China-related studies at Groningen University. In all DSC programs, the European context plays an essential role, the Netherlands being an integral part of the wider framework of the European Union (EU).

Activities

The Centre strives to promote comprehensive studies of the Netherlands and Europe and organizes various activities to further this purpose. Each year, Groningen professors teach DSC classes at Fudan University. Promising Fudan students are eligible for winning a scholarship to spend a study semester at Groningen University. The Centre also holds seminars and international conferences both in Shanghai and Groningen, organizes cultural weeks and business meetings, invites prominent speakers, and widens and deepens the academic cooperation and exchange between the two partners.
