Call for papers
Language variation and change has been a major focus of linguistic research for decades, and empirical approaches to language variation can strongly benefit from systematic manipulation of variables. The goal of ExAPP is to gather scholars employing experimental methods to investigate linguistic variation. We welcome abstracts for posters and papers that cover aspects of variation on all linguistic levels, and the perception as well as the production thereof. These include, but are not limited to, the following topics:
-
Perception of variation
-
Production of variation
-
Social meaning of linguistic features
-
Language attitudes
-
(Mutual) intelligibility of language varieties
-
Innovative methodologies
Talks are 20 minutes in length, followed by 10 minutes for discussion. Abstracts should be approximately 300-500 words (excluding references) and may be submitted in PDF or Word format using EasyAbstracts provided by LinguistList (https://easyabs.linguistlist.org/submit/ExAPP2026/). Posters will be displayed throughout one day, and there will be a dedicated poster session.
