Research Data Management Plan

The Bernoulli Research Data Management (RDM) Policy is the official document that regulates how every scientist at the Bernoulli Institute should handle their research data to make it FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Re-usable) for purposes of verification and safekeeping and compliant with the European Data Protection Regulations. It follows the recommendations of NWO, KNAW and the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Groningen.

BI researchers are informed that for every research project conducted at the BI a Research Data Management form must be created.

Bernoulli RDM Policy (principles and guidelines)

RDMP webtool (to create a RDM plan)

Responsibilities for staff members:

- create a data entry for every project in which you are principal investigator (consider: name of data collector and data manager, access rights, related publications, data descriptors, program and model codes where applicable, raw data)
- write RDM plans for the projects in which you are a principal investigator and update it whenever important changes to the project occur due to inclusion of new datasets, changes in consortium policies or other factors.

- give access rights to the data to at least one other research group member, should you become incapacitated

Responsibilities for students:

- create a data entry for data that you collect and produce in the project in which you are embedded (consider: name of data collector and data manager, access rights, related publications, data descriptors, program and model codes where applicable, raw data)
- use an RDM plan for the project in which you are embedded, coordinating with the supervisor to refer to relevant data information that the supervisor might have mentioned in their own RDM plan instead of duplicating it

- give access rights to the data to the project leader

- give access rights to your RDM plan to your supervisor

- if you are an incoming PhD student, request access to the webtool from Ineke Schelhaas and Elina Sietsema (Bernoulli.office@rug.nl) to be able to create a RDM plan
